St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, is administered by the Religious Congregation of the Handmaids of Mary. The Congregation is founded by Fr. Edmund Harrison S. J. in 1944 has been active in the sphere of education throughout the country, ever since its foundation.
“Joyful Service” is the Motto, which impregnates every activity in the School.
St. Mary’s School is a catholic school recognized by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and affiliated to the Council for the India School Certificate Examination, New Delhi in 1995. It gives comprehensive education to students up to +2 level.
The goal of our Education is the integral development of persons especially the children and the women. Through our teaching we impart to our students genuine human values and form them to be responsible citizens. We help our students in developing their mental powers and aptitudes forming in them the ability to judge rightly, initiating them into their cultural heritage and preparing for professional life. St. Mary’s School Coochbehar was founded by the Congregation of the Handmaids of Mary (Sisters) in 1986. It is registered as the “Snehadeepti Educational Society of St. Mary’s School”. St. Mary’s at Dinhata is a part of the Snehadeepti educational society. We consider the formation of character the first essential of any sound educational system. Therefore, great stress is laid on the inculcation of high ideals, moral rectitude and service to the community.
The Snehadeepti Educational Society of St. Mary’s School aims not only to form sound character and personality of the young students but also to train them to become dutiful and useful citizens of their motherland, India. The school forms the students to have piety, Compassion, virtue and discipline.
The school attaches great importance to a varied programme of activities outside the normal class routing. These are designed to develop important traits of character like honesty, self-confidence, co-operation and diligence and to promote latent talents of leadership and responsibility.
A good use of library facilities, study circles and clubs, debates, elocutions and quiz contests, dramatics, art and craft, drawings and painting competitions, games and athletics are also included in the curriculum to promote physical and cultural values among students and to encourage in them a spirit of healthy competition.
An inter-house athletic meet/cultural programme is held every year.
